We're pleased to announce a massive new update to our S2 Form Processor: For Highrise® script.  Here are some key highlights.

1. Simplified installation. A free demo is available without registering and the setup process has been greatly simplifed making it easier to get up and running
2. No more IonCube. In the past we used an encryption method that had some compatibility issues with some hosting companies.  This has been removed
3. Email is now optional. If you don't care about getting or sending confirmation emails, now you can turn that off
4. Multiple installs. If, for whatever reason, you need to install multiple copies of the script on your website, or place the files into a custom folder now you can.
5. Customize CAPTCHA questions. For advanced users, now you can edit the CAPTCHA questions and answers.  Great for foreign language installations.

With our newest release of the S2 Form Processor for Highrise we've updated how we handle the trial process so that you can more easily and quickly determine if the script is compatible with your needs.  Instead of having a 15 day trial period you'll now be able to download and configure a demo version with limited functionality and no time limit.  The demo version of the software will allow you to work through the configuration process and test the script's functionality to make sure that it works in your hosting environment.

We've released a new video to walk you through the process of modifying your existing website form so that it will work with the S2 Form Processor: For Highrise®.  Complete documentation on all available options are included in the included setup instructions, but this should provide a good overview of the process.

As you'll be able to see, modifying your form is quick and easy, just update the "name" variables to correspond with the Highrise field you'd like to be completed.

Included in the download package is a sample form for your use and reference.

We're awfully proud of our recent release, the S2 Form Processor and wanted to tell people about it, especially 37signals, after all, our Highrise version is specifically for them.  So I sent over an e-mail letting them know that we'd released our software, wanted them to know, and inquired about getting listed on their Extras & Add-ons page.

To be honest, I expected to get a canned response to my inquiry with some legal mumbo-jumbo and a series of mortgage application-like questions wanting to know what I've been up to for the last 15 years.  Boy were we surprised at their response.  Within minutes they Tweeted us and placed us right up on the Extras & Add-ons page for Highrise.  It was like a digital versions of when life was simpler, they just cut through the bull we've come to expect, trusted us and made it happen.

So, thank you 37signals, you all do it right, and remind us of something that's often forgotten these days, trust is good. 

Simply put, StringTwo makes software that improves existing hosted web applications.

For those of you that have had to good fortune (or mis-fortune) of hanging out on the web every day for the last few years an undeniable trend has emerged.  Much of the software that used to be installed on your desktop computer now has an equivalent offering online.  Google Apps and ZoHo compete with Microsoft Office, offerings from 37signals like as Basecamp, Backpack and Highrise battle against cumbersome products like Microsoft Project, Sharepoint and various contact managers or CRMs.  FreshBooks can even replace a person that sends your invoices and licks the envelope.  It seems that every week new hosted application launch that do everything from sharing ideas (ConceptShare) to organizing your receipts (Shoeboxed).  In fact just two days ago Google announced it's developing it's own lightweight operating system that will simply allow a computer to boot up and get online to run hosted apps.

As amazing as these apps are, they and desktop application suffer from a similar problem, they can't be all things to all people.  Without fail, an application with a large user base often requires that it's user adapt to it's practices instead of adapting to the user.  And this makes sense, an application can grow wildly complex and difficult to support if it tries to do too much.  This however is where StringTwo Software comes in!

Hosted applications have numerous advantages over installed apps and as far as we're concerned, the most important of these is APIs.  This also happens to be how we came up with our name.  APIs are like strings that hosted application creators dangle out there that say "we can't be all things to all people, but here's open access to the core functions of our software so that you can build onto and work with us."  And that's exactly what we do, we use the APIs of hosted applications to string things together.

In our first product releases, the S2 Form Processor: For Highrise and S2 Form Processor: For FreshBooks we connect website forms to their Highrise and FreshBooks accounts so that manual entry is eliminated... it'll even send a custom thank-you message to the submitter. This is the kind of software we love to make, it saves time, fills a need, and makes the user experience with an existing web application even better.
